5 ways to hit that mid-afternoon slump out of the park!

If you’re anything like me, you reliably struggle for energy mid-afternoon. And also, if you’re anything like me, you are willing to try/have tried/have thought about trying A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G to get yourself through that slump and loving the rest of your day.

Whether you’re looking for something you put into your body or something you do with your body, my top 5 go-to ways to hit that mid-afternoon slump out of the park are guaranteed to get you powering through.

# 1 - The Caffeine and Supplements fix AKA Happy Afternoon Iced Coffee

Ingredients:

1. Your cold brew coffee of choice

2. Your creamer of choice. Some of my favorites -- picnik creamer (great for keto), nutpods, or vanilla oatmilk

3. Ice, duh.

4. Stevia. I normally use 2-4 drops.

5. Flavor God Buttery Cinnamon Roll topper

6. 1-2 tablespoons of MCT oil

During the school year I drink this almost everyday in my 20 oz. yeti tumbler. Here's why - I typically like to sit outside and return messages and emails while I drink it OR I'm drinking it when I'm on my way to pick my daughter up from school. It stays cold. My car is protected from any possible spills thanks to the tumbler lid.

Another way you can drink it is by blending it - think Dunkin' Donuts coffee coolata but healthy. I've done this by using the nutribullet. I did this a lot during the summer!

The reason why I add supplements is because I don't like how they taste. The coffee and creamer hides that.

Around Christmas time BioRay sent me a gift box (Here’s your gift - use BIORAY Coupon Code: MALLORY to save 10%) and it included a Hormone and Microbe Balancing Coffee Recipe. I've doctored that recipe a bit to fit my taste buds and preferences.

Now here's the fun part, the supplements:

1. BioRay Loving Energy - 4 drops

2. BioRay Artemisia and Clove - 7 drops

3. Bulletproof  Brain Octane C8 MCT Oil - 2 tablespoons

How did I arrive at these numbers? I muscle tested them! Do you know how to muscle test? Learn here for free.

# 2 Shake Your Booty to Shake Off the Slump
A fast and upbeat workout or dance. I love searching YouTube for videos that are under 10 minutes. Here’s one of my favorites by Nikki Pebbles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EllCe2milQ

#3 - Snacks That Have Got Your Back

A snack with healthy fats. One of my favorites is SUPER simple! Sometimes the body just needs a hit of that high octane fuel! Hummus or GuacBaby CarrotsCelery Red peppers A piece of cheese (pepperjack is my fav!) A handful of nuts

#4 - I Like To Move It Move It

A walk outside around the block. No music, no audiobooks, no noise. Just walking and moving and being present in nature. This allows me to feel the full effects of being in nature and moving my body.

#5 - Oxygen for ReGen
5 minutes of abs, jumping jacks, and push ups followed with deep breathing for 3-5 minutes. This ALWAYS shifts me back into a good mental space. One of my favorite breathing videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmFUDkj1Aq0I like to visualize that my body is like batteries that are recharging. Sometimes these won’t work all the way because our bodies are asking for rest or a nap. I give myself permission to do that too. I am much better off when I listen and let myself sleep. It gives me what I need to take care of our evening responsibilities.

Beyond the actual action steps I’ve listed above I feel that it’s really important to have self compassion. I have found myself in a place where I have been very critical when I’m not performing like a robot and checking off every little item on my list. That creates a cycle of negativity and really drains my mental state and energy.

Some days I struggle and other days I have what I need to push through. I’m finally learning to be OKAY with both! I hope you are too 🧡
